Meghan Snatchko

A Librarian, married, mother of one, who loves popcorn. Oh, and using social media too.

I have worked at the Sewickley Public Library for almost 9 years (started November 2004.) I feel that in this time I have gained valuable perspective. I started as a circulation clerk and through this position, I familiarized myself with library procedures and standards. I was also able to hone my skills in customer service, specifically when it comes to dealing with difficult service situations. In September of 2006 I was hired to be the Teen Librarian in a joint position between Sewickley and Moon Township Public Libraries. I shared my time between both libraries acting as the sole Teen Librarian for both. Volleying between two libraries was tenuous at times but it taught me how to manage my time well. When I left the Moon Township Public Library in March of 2008, I became full-time at Sewickley and Moon hired a part-time Teen Librarian to replace me. Once I was only working at Sewickley Public Library again, I was able to expand my duties. I still maintained the Teen Department programming, collection development, and web presence. I also started to fill-in for the Adult Reference Department. In September of 2008 I was offered a full-time position in Adult Reference Department. Over time, my duties in this department have continued to grow. To sum it up, my body of work is about: Collection Development, Programs for Adults, Web Presences, SEO, Marketing, Social Media, Local Collaboration, Courteous Help. My goal is to help the Sewickley Public Library remain relevant, fresh, and dependable while also creating a sustainable future for this wonderful community asset. Specialties: troubleshooting devices, collection development, program planning, marketing, content management systems such as Wordpress, Microsoft Office suite, Dreamweaver, III Millennium ILS, PC and Mac proficient.
